Joseph, a Hebrew who could interpret dreams, predicted seven years of famine and saved Egypt through careful planning. His success earned him a position as Pharaoh's right-hand man and initially protected the Hebrew people.
However, after 400 years in Egypt, the Hebrews were enslaved. When Pharaoh ordered all firstborn Hebrew males killed, Moses was saved when Pharaoh's daughter rescued and raised him as a prince.
Later, Moses was called by God to free the Hebrew people from slavery. When Pharaoh refused, God sent ten plagues upon Egypt, finally convincing Pharaoh to release them. This exodus from Egypt is commemorated in the Jewish celebration of Passover, marking the end of 400 years of slavery.

Ten Commandments and Jewish Beliefs
