# Notes on Adverbs

Adverbs describe verbs (actions). They give more detail about the action.

*   My cat eats slowly.

Slowly is an adverb

Understanding Adverbs

Adverbs are words that describe verbs (actions) by giving more detail about how something happens. When you see a sentence like "My cat eats slowly," the word "slowly" tells you how the cat eats. Adverbs typically answer the question "How?"

But adverbs don't just describe actions! They can also modify adjectives to show intensity or degree. Words like very, extremely, really, and totally are placed before adjectives to strengthen or clarify them. For example, "It was very hot yesterday" or "He is totally crazy."

Adverbs come in several types that serve different purposes in your sentences:

  • Adverbs of Frequency: always, sometimes, never, once a week
  • Adverbs of Manner: carefully, slowly, loudly
  • Adverbs of Time: tomorrow, now, this year, soon
  • Adverbs of Place: here, there, above, everywhere
  • Adverbs of Degree: very, extremely, rather, almost
  • Adverbs of Quantity: a few, a lot, much
  • Adverbs of Attitude: fortunately, apparently, clearly

💡 Quick Tip: When you're trying to identify an adverb in a sentence, ask yourself "How?" "When?" "Where?" or "To what extent?" The word that answers these questions is likely an adverb!

The app is very easy to use and well designed. I have found everything I was looking for so far and have been able to learn a lot from the presentations! I will definitely use the app for a class assignment! And of course it also helps a lot as an inspiration.

This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.

Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
