Comprehensive Vocabulary of the Human Reproductive System

Female Reproductive System & Pregnancy Terms
Ever wondered how pregnancy begins? It starts with ovulation - when a mature egg is released from the ovary, typically around day 14 of the menstrual cycle. If fertilization occurs (sperm meets egg), the resulting zygote implants in the uterine lining.
The female reproductive system includes several key structures. The ovaries produce eggs and hormones like estrogen. The fallopian tubes have fimbriae that guide eggs toward the uterus. The uterus has an inner lining called the endometrium, and its lower portion forms the cervix. Externally, the vulva includes labia and the sensitive clitoris.
Pregnancy, also called gestation, progresses through stages. After fertilization, the developing baby is called a zygote until implantation, then an embryo through week 8, and finally a fetus until birth. The placenta allows nutrients and oxygen exchange between mother and baby without mixing their blood.
Fun Fact: Several professionals help with childbirth! An obstetrician is a doctor specializing in pregnancy and delivery, while a doula provides emotional support during labor and after birth.

Male Reproductive System & Reproductive Procedures
The male reproductive system is designed to produce and deliver sperm. The testes (or testicles) produce sperm and testosterone. They're housed in the scrotum, which helps maintain the optimal temperature for sperm production.
Sperm travel a complex path during ejaculation. From the testes, they move through the coiled epididymis and into the vas deferens. Several glands add fluids to create semen - the seminal vesicles contribute nutrients, while the prostate gland adds alkaline fluid that helps sperm survive. This mixture exits through the penis.
Both men and women have options for permanent birth control through sterilization. For women, tubal ligation (commonly called "having your tubes tied") prevents eggs from reaching sperm. For men, a vasectomy blocks sperm from entering the semen but doesn't affect ejaculation volume or pleasure.
Important Note: A common procedure for male infants is circumcision - the surgical removal of the foreskin that covers the tip of the penis. This optional procedure is typically performed shortly after birth.

This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.
Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
