Understanding the Ideal Gas Law: Formula and Notes

Understanding the Ideal Gas Law
The Ideal Gas Law relates all properties of a gas in one powerful equation: PV = nRT. Unlike other gas laws that focus on changing conditions, this formula works for any situation where you have a gas.
Let's break down what each letter means:
- P = pressure (usually in atm)
- V = volume (usually in liters)
- n = number of moles of gas
- R = gas constant
- T = temperature (always in Kelvin)
💡 Always remember to convert Celsius to Kelvin by adding 273 to your Celsius temperature!
Working with the Ideal Gas Law requires using the correct gas constant (R) value. The value depends on your units:
- When using pressure in atm and volume in liters: R = 0.0821 L·atm/(mol·K)
- When using pressure in mmHg: R = 62.4 L·mmHg/(mol·K)
For example, to find pressure when V = 6.2 L, n = 0.32 mol, and T = 25°C (298 K), we can rearrange the formula: P = nRT/V = ÷ 6.2 L = 1.26 atm
The key to success with the Ideal Gas Law is identifying what you're solving for, using the right R constant, and making sure your temperature is in Kelvin!

The app is very easy to use and well designed. I have found everything I was looking for so far and have been able to learn a lot from the presentations! I will definitely use the app for a class assignment! And of course it also helps a lot as an inspiration.
This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.
Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
