Fertilization is the magical moment when reproduction officially begins. During this process, a sperm cell successfully reaches an egg and its nucleus enters the egg's cell membrane.

Once inside, the sperm nucleus travels through the egg cytoplasm until it reaches the egg's nucleus. The two nuclei then join together, combining their genetic material (chromosomes) from both parents.
