History and Early Approaches

Beyond experiments, psychologists use other research methods. Naturalistic observation allows researchers to study behavior in real-world settings but can't establish cause and effect. Correlation studies identify relationships between variables but remember - correlation doesn't equal causation! Correlations range from -1 to +1, with stronger relationships closer to either extreme.
