# How do I use Voice Recall?

> Voice Recall steps in your study plan ask you to explain a topic out loud. Tap Start learning, allow microphone access and tap Tap to answer. On the website it is being tested.

Voice Recall lets you practise by explaining a topic out loud. Knowie asks questions, listens to your answer and gives feedback. In the app it is part of your exam study plans.

## In the app

1. Open your study plan and choose a step called **Explain out loud**. The first screen says **Explain it to Knowie**.
2. Tap **Start learning**. If you cannot talk right now, tap **I can't talk right now** and continue with the rest of your plan.
3. Tap **Tap to answer**, explain your answer, then tap **Tap to send**.
4. Read the feedback and tap **Next question**.

During a session, **Reveal answer** shows the answer and **Skip question** moves past a question. At the end you see which explanations were good and which need more practice.

For some students, Voice Recall steps use energy like other study plan steps. This is being tested. You cannot opt in or out, and support cannot change it.

## Microphone access

The first time, the app asks for your microphone. Tap **Allow microphone**. If you turned it off earlier, the app shows **Microphone access needed**. Tap **Open settings** and allow the microphone for Knowunity.

## On the website

Some students also see Voice Recall steps in their study plans on the website. This is being tested. You cannot opt in or out, and support cannot switch it on. If you do not see these steps on the website, use the app.

Allow microphone access when your browser asks. If you see **Recording isn't supported here**, open the app instead.

## Your recording did not send

- **Send again** retries sending a saved recording.
- **Record again** lets you replace a recording that could not be saved.
- **Reload session** restarts loading when the answer could not be confirmed.
